Being together on life's journey with a companion will help us to understand the gifts of love.
"For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love” 2 Peter 1:5-7
A Christian husband or wife is the key to a successful and exemplary marriage before the eyes of God, who is the one who blesses this holy union by endowing both of them those virtues that represent us as true children of God. When finding a Christian couple, they will know the meaning of the purest love and will have the security of finding themselves in the Lord's path with a firm purpose: to serve Him.
“And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. Then the man said, 'this at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; this one shall be called Woman, for out of Man this one was taken.' Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and clings to his wife, and they become one flesh.” Genesis 2:23
Two people, the same road. A Christian couple knows the meaning and importance of walking in the Lord's way very well. They know about the sacrifices and benefits of traveling, they know the beginning and the end. Having a companion in Christ gives us company and advice to take that path and stay in it without deviating, to overcome the trials that God presents us, which make us grow in spirit and be better people.
“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up the other; but woe to one who is alone and falls and does not have another to help. Again, if two lie together, they keep warm; but how can one keep warm alone? And though one might prevail against another, two will withstand one. A threefold cord is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:9
God taught us that we must make good use of our time, since it is a unique treasure. Therefore, we must not waste our time in non-Christian relationships, relationships that will not go anywhere and can encourage habits that the Lord would not approve of. Remember that life is God's gift to us, and we must honor it by making good use of our time.
"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace." Ephesians 4:2-4
Claim the family as a sacred institution. Only with a Christian couple are we able to put the family back on the pedestal it deserves, with lasting relationships based on a love of God, mutual trust, and the joy of sharing the same values that God wants for us.
“Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.” Colossians 3:18-19
The best company. A partner is just what we need in this life. In the same way that God created Eve so that Adam would not feel alone in paradise, so should we find a Christian partner to accompany us on the Lord's path. So that we can share the good times and be able to support each other during the bad times, to love and be loved, also to listen and be heard.
