Worshipping Christ does not mean solemnity or recollection, but happiness, joy and celebration. Remember that God celebrates inventiveness and a rejuvenated spirit.
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Make your preyers less rigid. We all know about the power of prayer, but what few take into account is that it is our channel of communication with the Most Holy: a channel for exclusive use, through which we can open our hearts to Him. That is why the moment of Prayer doesn't necessarily have to be filled with difficult words that we no longer use but can be experienced by having a real, heart-to-heart, child-to-parent conversation.
“Sing to God, sing in praise of his name, extol him who rides on the clouds; rejoice before him - his name is the Lord. A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.” Psalms 68:4-5
Turn your time in the temple into something different. Outings to the temple, whether individual or family, do not necessarily have to be a time of penance or solemnity. While there are times when we must repent of our sins, your time in the temple should be a celebration. Let us celebrate then, that God loves us, that he has risen and that he has chosen us as his children.
“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.” Habakkuk 3:17-18
Every place and time can be time for Christ. Let us remember that the commitment we make to honor Christ is a full-time job. This means that no matter how busy we are with our personal tasks, we are always honoring God: whether it is giving up our seat to an elderly woman on the bus or preparing dinner for our children.
“Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head overall.” 1 Chronicles 29:11
Adore it without us noticing it. This concept follows from the previous one and is more than anything the end of this exercise. It is important to bear in mind that we are not doing a job, with all the negative connotations that it may have, but that the goal is that we honor Christ at all times and in all places, carrying out our lives governed by the way that God teaches us, the one who wants us to follow.
