It is time, then, to realize that God is in charge of our lives. Let us leave disappointments behind and walk confidently in the ways of the Lord.
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”. John 16:33
We have all gone through different types of disappointments throughout our lives. That disenchantment we experience when we do not get or when what we longed for does not happen. When these feelings arise, negative sensations such as sadness and uncertainty appear, which, in turn, lead to even worse situations such as depression and apathy for everything.
As active members of the People of God, we must know that life is a balance between good and bad moments. This is how The Lord teaches us to follow in His footsteps. Along the way, we will be filled with joy at the events that bring us joy and happiness. However, when the storms rage, we may experience certain processes in which we will feel disillusioned and, consequently, full of doubts and anguish.
When we face this type of instance, we run one of the most harmful risks that can be presented to us: the loss of Faith. That is why it is fundamental to talk to The Lord every day, to reach in His Word that Peace that is being denied to us, to meet again with His infinite Love, and to fill us with Calm and Wisdom to be able to face with determination the great disappointments and fulfill the wonderful purpose that He has prepared for our lives.
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” Colossians 3:15
Disappointments are varied and are stumbling blocks that we must overcome for the glory of the Lord. It is very likely that throughout our existence we will have to go through betrayals, personal failures, situations in which our friends turn their backs on us at a crucial moment, the appearance of crises and instability in our homes, the collapse of a project in which we have placed our best expectations and which does not crystallize.
These situations generate a lot of questions inside us. We question ourselves if we have been the guilty ones and doubts take over our spirit. In the face of this type of episode, we must act firmly, supported by our unshakable Faith, and put before the idea of Opportunity and Reconstruction. Let us learn from children, who are the expression of maximum innocence and goodness that The Lord gives us, who, when their sandcastle is damaged by the waves, quickly find the motivation to build another one.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
To face these challenges successfully, we must go through the obstacles as humble and balanced people so that we do not fall into a hole from which it is difficult to climb out. These are propitious moments in which we are called to grow in the knowledge of Christ. For this, the ideal is to seek a space of silence and solitude to open our hearts to Him and receive His Mercy.
When we congregate in prayer, it is not to use it as an escape route. On the contrary, when we pray we must be fully aware that we are in permanent search of our Heavenly Father who is kind and eternally faithful to us.
“for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.” 1 John 5:4-5
Let us remember that in the face of the great disappointment that has struck us, there is the hand of the Lord comforting His people. What better refuge, what better place to regain our composure?
Let us surrender our own faithfulness to Christ and let the highest take control of the situation. Our Victory is assured by His side for nothing and no one is more powerful than The Lord.
