"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." Matthew 28:19
God's divine essence transcends all human logic. His greatness and infinite love are displayed in every corner of the universe. He is an inexhaustible source of compassion, wisdom and grace. As we examine the nature of God, we find ourselves before a being of immaculate purity, who transcends time and space, and whose essence is the basis of all creation.
God is not only the supreme Creator, but also the compassionate guide who cares for each of His children. In His infinite goodness, He gives us the opportunity to form a close and personal relationship with Him, a spiritual connection that transcends the earthly. His eternal love enfolds us and impels us to grow and evolve spiritually.
The Holy Spirit, a divine manifestation of God on Earth, is the very essence of His power and presence. This wonderful comforter and guide enlightens us, fills us with discernment and leads us along the path of truth and wisdom. It is the divine force that helps us to understand the Word of God and to deepen our faith.
"Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." Matthew 26:41
Spiritual formation is a journey of inner growth, guided by the Holy Spirit. It is an ongoing process in which we allow God to shape our hearts and minds. Through prayer, meditation on God's Word and a life in communion with Him, we immerse ourselves in a transformative process. Spiritual formation leads us to a deeper understanding of ourselves and of God's purpose for our lives.
The Holy Spirit accompanies us on this journey, infusing us with spiritual gifts and fruits that help us grow. He gives us wisdom, understanding, counsel and strength to face life's challenges. His presence fills us with peace and guides us toward a more intimate relationship with God.
Every experience, every obstacle and every joy in life are opportunities to learn and grow spiritually. The Holy Spirit is our ally in this process, guiding us toward a deeper understanding of God's will and empowering us to live according to His teachings.
"On the contrary, we speak as those approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please people but God, who tests our hearts." 1 Thessalonians 2:4
Spiritual formation is a unique and personal journey, in which each step brings us closer to God's image of us. It invites us to open our hearts and minds to receive divine grace, allowing the Holy Spirit to mold and transform us into more compassionate, loving and light-filled beings.
With God, there is no need to pretend to be someone else. He values genuine brokenness far more than a spiritual facade. To grow, to evolve into the person we are meant to be, we must begin by being honest with ourselves about who we really are.
Imagine the case of a mother with three young children. She hears and reads about the importance of spending an hour in prayer and reading the Word every morning. However, her responsibilities to her children prevent her from doing so. She feels guilty for not being able to engage in this spiritual practice and compares herself to others who do, not realizing that love and service to her children also have great spiritual value.
"We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God." 2 Corinthians 5:20
Each of us has an idealized image of who we should be, which often contrasts with our true essence. At times, letting go of that idealized image can be a relief, but at other times it feels like a painful process, similar to a death.
Beyond this symbolic death lies freedom. No one is freer than someone who has let go of that fictitious image and now lives in authenticity. Jesus spoke about dying to self in order to become the person God wants us to be. It is a symbolic death, leaving behind that facade so that a more genuine and noble person can emerge.
Spiritual formation by God is a process where our inner self is molded. It is a lasting change, not merely a human effort. It is a divine work that we can join through prayer, wisdom in organizing our lives and recognition of the gifts God has given us. Our spirit flourishes when it is rooted in God's Spirit and shaped by Him in a way that is unique and specific to each of us, His sons and daughters.
