How to Set a Good Example: Convey Your Actions Effectively

Inspire your actions and decisions. Let faith be our source of energy so that the Peace of the Lord may come to your heart.

“Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” Ephesians 5:1-2

How do we praise the Lord fruitfully? How do we organize our actions to please our Heavenly Father? What are we talking about when we talk about imitating God?

More than once we have heard the expression "imitate the Lord". This action refers to the importance of replicating the Love with which we have been blessed by Christ. Because that Love is not something that happens only in our Spirit and in our mind. That Love is an action to be shared and spread among our brothers. That Love means offering our expectations and desires to honor the Glory of the Lord and serve our neighbors from the heart. Let us ask in prayer that He will help us love others as He has loved us. The blessings that the Highest pours on us every day are to exceed us and to learn. It is this kind of Love that can truly change the world .

Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?” John 6:28

How can we effectively convey the meaning of our actions? A very valuable tool, which we often overlook, is to act by example. People are usually more receptive and understand better when they are explained how to approach a task. Students expand their capacity for understanding when they can ascertain knowledge for themselves through the examples of their teachers. Children become calm and collected when they see their parents behaving in the same way.

By transmitting, through our work and actions, the Love and Mercy of God, we remove from our hearts the dishonest and foolish words that distance us from the purposes that the Lord has set for our existence.

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10

It is vitally important to walk the path of a good example that is, neither more nor less, the path on which the Lord guides us with his Infinite Light. Let us become aware of how important our actions are, ensuring that our behaviors can serve as a model for others. We are called to contribute with the fruit of our works and actions to the Spiritual development of our brothers and to be a source of inspiration in how they should conduct themselves to honor the Glory of God.

We too must be willing to take the example of others to enrich our lives with the teachings that the Lord keeps for us in the hearts of our brothers.

“I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race.” Ecclesiastes 3:10

The action we take as members of the People of God is not easy. We must endure disqualification, disbelief, and even, in some cases, offense. However, despite having our own struggles and concerns, we must not give up because, although we have the wrong vision that our actions are in vain, the hand of the Lord is already acting in the people we have touched with His Word. Let us always keep in mind that we are His most beloved instrument to guide others to the goals that God has set for them.
