Do you feel that at times your patience is running out? Do you often find yourself close to the edge? Here are some tips we have put together to give you the tools you need so that nothing can disturb your spiritual peace.
“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways when they carry out their wicked schemes.” Psalms 37:7
What would Jesus do? A good starting point when we find ourselves in circumstances where our patience reaches a limit is to ask ourselves what Jesus would do in our place. In Christ, we will find the answer and the way to deal with such situations, following His example of love and tolerance.
“Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains.” James 5:7
Cultivate your gifts. Exercising all the virtues with which God has blessed us throughout our lives is extremely important because they will become tools to be used in cases where, for example, we need to make extra use of our patience. Let us remember to strengthen our gifts so that circumstances do not find us unprepared and cause us to falter.
“Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” Romans 5:3-4
Prayer. Finding refuge in prayer is one of the wisest resources to put into practice. To meditate in silence trying to find the answer that God deposits in our hearts is to act with humility asking for Divine counsel from our Holy Father. To listen to what our heart dictates is to exercise patience in the most effective way.
“But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.” Luke 8:15
Read the Holy Bible. Surely by now, you know that all the teachings that Christ left us as a legacy are gathered there. It is in this way that taking refuge in the reading of the Holy Scriptures means finding the patience we seek among its books and verses. Let us remember then that we will always find in it the answer to all our questions.
“We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.” Hebrews 6:12
Seek the peace that is in your heart. Some people patiently count to ten when they find themselves in situations where their patience is in check. Instead, as children of Christ, we look within our hearts for the strength to combat such a circumstance. Let us remember that it is in our hearts that we can meet Christ hand in hand and thereby discover how we can count on more patience.
