How do we recognize God's voice in our lives?
We have to understand the Lord´s purposes.
“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:17
Probably one of the most difficult things for many of the members of the People of God is to maintain a constant and fluid dialogue with the Lord over time.
There are many reasons that can get in our way so that our intimacy with the Highest is affected. We live in a society that constantly demands quick and effective solutions.
This vertiginous rhythm that today's world imposes on us can provoke harmful feelings such as anxiety, depression, stress, and lack of motivation.
When these feelings take hold of our heart, we try to placate the anguish by looking in the wrong places, postponing more and more our encounter with God, putting it off for another occasion because we feel "tired" or "discouraged".
That is why it is important to generate a moment alone with the Lord, although in principle and depending on the moment we are going through, it may be a great effort because, in this wonderful exchange with the Eternal, we can find the contention and strength that we lack to overcome the obstacles that we face daily.
“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. Simon and his companions went to look for him.” Mark 1:35-36
Let us look for a moment of the day (the one that seems most appropriate) and let us listen to what the Lord has to say to us.Let us wait for His voice in silence, from calm, from prayer, from sincere and deep reflection.
Let us learn to dedicate those minutes of peace so necessary to talk to God, understanding that these are unique and unrepeatable moments.
However, we must always keep in mind that there will be times when we will have to face things or topics that we would prefer to avoid because talking to God is a transforming act that reveals to us where we are on the road that invites us to reflect on our actions and faults. It is fundamental to be aware that when we listen to the Eternal, it is on His terms and not ours. In this way, His Perfect Mercy reestablishes Peace and Harmony in our existences.
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians4:6
When was the last time we spoke to the Lord in a humble and authentic way? How many hours do we spend listening to views or opinions in the media that do nothing but distract us from God's wonderful message? Let us not overlook the intervention of our Heavenly Father and His Eternal Grace in our lives.
We are wise when we recognize the Highest as the necessary Guide we need to transform us into His Glory.
“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” Matthew 6:6
When we spend time alone with God, our minds are freed from all distractions and we can truly concentrate on Him and listen to His Perfect Word.
The Lord calls us to intimacy to enjoy abiding in Him and thus to know Him in all His dimension.
