Christmas has already happened but these facts will surprise us and help us understand the importance of this date for our family.
Love your neighbor
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” Matthew 5:43-44
Because God is always an example to follow and his teachings are perfect, simply because He taught by example.
Therefore, the same as it was with Jesus, it is our duty to imitate Him in all His actions in order to continue walking in His footsteps on the road to eternity .
Forgive those who offend us
“Let it be known to you therefore, brethren, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, 39 and by him every one that believes is freed from everything from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses.” Acts 13:38-39
This virtue is not one of the easiest to obtain, but neither is it impossible, we must only rid ourselves of the plague that is arrogance and pride.
If we do this then we will begin to notice the seeds of humility growing in our hearts, which will open the door to forgiveness.
Give yourself to God
“And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kindly to every one, an apt teacher, forbearing, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant that they will repent and come to know the truth,” 2 Timothy 2:24-25
We must consecrate our life to Christ in the same way that Jesus surrendered to God the Father completely while on the cross.
Only by walking His path will we be able to imitate His surrender. The act of complete surrender means that we must sacrifice by relying on faith and prayer.
Be generous
“You will be enriched in every way for great generosity, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.” 2 Corinthians 9:11
If, supported by the word of God, we become aware of the value we give to all material things, we would not hesitate to get rid of everything we own in order to benefit those who need it the most.
Then it is important to know how to recognize the need for luxury, in order to understand that true luxury is found in what we keep in our hearts.
The importance of prayer
“And in praying do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard for their many words.” Matthew 6:7
We have a very valuable advantage, which is a direct line of communication with God, who listens to us at all times and advises us in the best possible way, as the good Father He is.
Likewise, daily prayer also teaches us to develop the habit of being grateful for all those things that we generally take for granted. So, it is important to nourish and develop our habit of praying and communicating with God our Father daily.
